Helpful Guidelines
Do not eat for at least 2 hours before class.
Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. Yoga twists and cleanses the internal organs and this is not comfortable when there is food in the upper digestive system. if you need to eat before class, snack on something light, such as fresh fruit, yoghurt, a soy or milk drink, a few nuts. Eat food that is quickly digested and this should be done no less than one half hour before class.
Arrive to class at least ten minutes early.
Please sign-in and put your belongings in the shelves in the waiting room. If you are running late, wait until the meditation and breathing exercise have been completed. If you’re running more that 15 minutes late, it’s best just to skip class as the warm will be over and you may end up injuring yourself.
Bring your own mat and towel.
We do have a limited number of mats available, but it’s best to bring your own if you have one. We also have blocks, straps, and blankets for your use.
Inform of us of any injuries or health concerns.
Postures can be modified to accommodate most physical concerns. Since it is contrary to yoga practice to cause yourself pain, let us know what we can do to make you as comfortable as necessary. With yoga, we listen acknowledge where our body’s physical limits are today. We work to our personal edge, respecting our own body, regardless of where our neighbor’s edge happens to be. All of us can reap the benefits of any pose with the correct alignment and awareness.
