what should i know

We offer a wide array of classes that encompass a range of yoga philosophies and styles. Whether you are trying to ease physical distress, gain peace of mind, or work on strengthening your body, you can a find a class that will meet your needs

Please take a look at our class descriptions to find the practice that will be a fit for you and your experience level.  Also, we've put together a few guidelines that will help make your yoga practice the most fulfilling experience possible.

GUIDELINES

Do not eat for at least 2 hours before class

Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach.  Yoga twists and cleanses the internal organs and this is not comfortable when there is food in the upper digestive system.  if you need to eat before class, snack on something light,  such as fresh fruit, yoghurt, a soy or milk drink, a few nuts.  Eat food that is quickly digested and this should be done no less than one half hour before class.

Arrive to class at least ten minutes early

Please sign-in and put your belongings in the shelves in the waiting room. If you are running late, wait until the meditation and breathing exercise have been completed. If you’re running more that 15 minutes late, it’s best just to skip class as the warm will be over and you may end up injuring yourself.

Bring your own mat and towel

We do have a limited number of mats available, but it’s best to bring your own if you have one. We also have blocks, straps, and blankets for your use.

Inform of us of any injuries or health concerns

Postures can be modified to accommodate most physical concerns. Since it is contrary to yoga practice to cause yourself pain, let us know what we can do to make you as comfortable as necessary.   With yoga, we listen acknowledge where our body’s physical limits are today.  We work to our personal edge, respecting our own body, regardless of where our neighbor’s edge happens to be.  All of us can reap the benefits of any pose with the correct alignment and awareness.

Please note:  Yoga is not a competitive sport, rather a personal journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t have a “yoga” body. Can I still practice yoga?

Contrary to the image of svelte contortionists you might see on TV or in magazines, there really isn’t a yoga body type. People of all ages, weights, and flexibilities can reap the benefits of a dedicated yoga practice.

Is yoga a New Age religion?

While there is a strong spiritual element, yoga is not a religious belief system. People of all religions and creeds can complement their personal philosophies with the spiritual awareness yoga can bring about.

I have really stiff joints and can barely touch my toes. Can I practice yoga?

Yes, you can and you’ll be amazed how quickly your joints will loosen and your flexibility improves. Choosing the right yoga class is important when starting out, so select a class like restorative or basic yoga to learn the postures that can help alleviate health concerns.

I have high blood pressure. I don’t know if I can do all of the inversions I’ve seen yoga students do.

Most yoga poses can be modified to accommodate health conditions. The best advice is to notify your yoga teacher of health concerns you may have enabling them to guide you through a safe practice that best meets your needs and limitations. Inversions, as well as other poses, can be altered so that you receive the same benefits without the risk.

How much does it cost for a class? Do you have packages and drop-in rates?

Our rates are very competitive to other studios in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.

You’re located in Covington. Will I be able to find anywhere to park?

There is plenty of street parking where the studio is located.
